Walking Group

The branch Walking Group and a four-legged friend, Maggie, met January 8 at Lake Tabeaud for a cool but energizing walk. Once around the lake was almost 6,300 steps; a good way to start the week. Pictured are:

Cork & Fork

Hosted by Gretchen, Dave, Kathy and Randy at the Carlson home in Jackson, this Cork & Fork group sampled a selection of delicious wines and appetizers.   11/12/23

A second Cork & Fork Group hosted by Greta and Mike McElroy-White met at the Scott Harvey Tasting Room in Sutter Creek.  11/12/23

On Sunday, September 10, Cork and Fork members, group #2, enjoyed an evening tasting red and white Australian wines, graciously hosted by Sue and Jim Harrington.


Burning Woman – Memoirs of an Elder

A lovely discussion with Sharon Strong about her book Burning Woman – Memoirs of an Elder was enjoyed Sunday February 12, 2023 at Hein and Company. This was the second of two Authors and Chocolates sponsored by AAUW-Amador. The author shared with the group a reading of a special moment in her book and her life.


Afternoon Tea at Baker Street West

February 11, 2023, AAUW branch members and guests enjoyed afternoon tea at Baker Street West while hearing from local Amador author, Kathy Boyd Fellure, about her new book, The Wrong Ocean, and her journey of taking a creative storyline through to a completed manuscript. Another successful Authors and Chocolate event.


Manning Program

On Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2023, the Amador Branch of AAUW hosted Dr. Beth Rose Middleton Manning who gave a presentation on the topic of Rural Environmental Justice.  The program focused on projects that deal with inequalities and impacts related to environmental contamination in rural areas, the history of tribal land and water rights, and the challenges of rural economic development.

Dr. Beth Rose Middleton Manning grew up in Amador County and went on to earn her BA and Ph.D.  Currently she is a Professor of Native American Studies at UC Davis.
